The school of record is Legacy Traditional School – Queen Creek, one campus of the Legacy Traditional Schools network, held under the charter name Legacy Traditional Charter School. Everything in the table below is what the operator printed on its own campus pages when we checked them on September 22, 2026 — not an aggregator’s copy of it, which matters here more than it does for most schools.

Do not trust a listing for this address. An aggregator prints 22120 E Queen Creek Rd for Legacy Traditional School – Queen Creek. That address belongs to Benjamin Franklin’s Crismon Campus, a different school run by a different operator. Legacy’s own site gives 41800 North Barnes Pkwy.
The ZIP on that address is worth one sentence of its own. The campus sits in 85140, and 85140 is a ZIP where the Postal Service’s own recommended city name is San Tan Valley, with Queen Creek only an accepted alternate; the 2020 Census ZCTA-to-county file places ZIP Code Tabulation Area 85140 entirely within Pinal County. A Queen Creek mailing address in that ZIP therefore proves nothing about town limits or county in either direction — our breakdown of the four local ZIP codes explains what each one does and does not settle. For the school itself it changes nothing: Legacy offers its seats based on availability under open enrollment, so your own address matters here mainly as a drive.
2.The A Grade, the 922 Students, and the Grade Span Two Governments Disagree About
Legacy Traditional School – Queen Creek carried an A** in the Arizona State Board of Education’s FY2025 A-F file, under CTDS 90534. That file reports the **2024-25 school year, so the A is a result for a year that has already finished, not a statement about the classroom a child would walk into this fall. It is also a whole-school result: the state issues one FY2025 letter grade for the entity filed under CTDS 90534, rather than a grade per grade band, and K-8 is the span the operator publishes for this campus.
The enrollment figure comes from a different government. The federal NCES school directory records 922 students at this school for 2024-25. We did not verify a matching per-school figure published by the Arizona Department of Education, so treat 922 as the federal count for that year and ask the front office what the current year looks like — particularly if the answer you actually need is whether one grade is full. Across the wider local market, per-campus enrollment is the single hardest charter number to source; the same gap shows up on almost every operator in our roster of the area’s charter schools.
The federal directory and the operator disagree on the grade span. Legacy’s campus pages say kindergarten through 8th grade with Pre-K available. The NCES record for this exact school (ID 040092703190) lists the span as "KG - 9" for the 2025-26 directory year. No Legacy marketing page anywhere claims a 9th grade, so the federal line reads like a directory artifact — but we are not going to resolve it for you. If a 9th-grade seat is the thing you need, ask the school directly and do not plan around either record.
Either way, plan the hand-off. On the operator’s own numbers this campus stops at 8th grade, which means a 9-12 search starts while a child is in 7th or 8th — and it is a search with real choices in this town, laid out in our comparison of the local high school options.
3.The Curriculum Model and the Uniform Rule, in the Operator’s Own Words
Legacy describes its model as a traditional, back-to-basics approach built on strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, combined with arts, fitness and character-development programming. That is the operator’s language, not a state finding, and the state file does not label this campus with a model at all. The named programs its campus page carries are network programs rather than Queen Creek inventions:
- Legacy Gifted Program — the network’s gifted track, named on the campus page.
- Mozart Performing Arts — the network’s performing-arts program.
- Momentum Fitness — physical education described as 45 minutes of age-appropriate exercise, four days a week.
- Masterminds STEM — the network’s science, technology, engineering and math program.
Uniforms: polos daily, spirit shirts on Fridays
Students wear dress-code polos every day. Every Friday is a Legacy Day, when students may wear a spirit t-shirt instead. Beyond that, the campus info page refers families to a separate dress-code guide rather than listing garments — so the specific items, the approved colors, the vendor and the annual cost are not something we can quote. Ask for that guide during the enrollment call; it is the line item most families under-budget in a first uniform year.
4.How You Get a Seat: No Deadline, and a Lottery Only If a Grade Fills
Legacy runs open enrollment: applications are accepted year-round, there is no application fee, there are no entrance exams or auditions, and the operator states that seats are offered based on availability and that all students have an equal opportunity to attend. It also states plainly that it is a tuition-FREE K-8 charter school — families never pay to enroll, and there are no application fees or deposits.
The legal floor under that is A.R.S. § 15-184, which requires an Arizona charter school to enroll every timely applicant unless it is oversubscribed, at which point it must use an equitable selection process such as a lottery, with sibling preference allowed. Read that in the right order: the lottery is the exception that switches on when a grade fills, not a fixture of charter enrollment. A grade with open seats has no lottery to run.

There is no dated 2027-28 application or lottery window for Legacy Traditional, and there is not meant to be one. Waiting for a published deadline the way you would at American Leadership Academy is the mistake this page exists to prevent — at Legacy the only clock is the one running on the seats in your child’s grade.
That difference is the single most useful thing to hold in your head if you are applying to more than one charter in the same year, and it is the reason the district and charter calendars need to be read side by side rather than assumed. 5.Bell Times, the Driveline and Before and After Care

The 15-minute stagger between the two bands shapes the afternoon: a household with a 3rd grader and a 7th grader is in the same driveline twice, or waiting fifteen minutes in it once. There is no school bus service. The campus states that families will need to plan for daily drop-off and pickup, and that students who walk are released at the last dismissal time for safety reasons.
That is a genuine difference from the largest charter operator in town rather than a universal charter rule. American Leadership Academy publishes an optional paid bus and shuttle service with family pricing tiers; Legacy does not advertise transportation of any kind. If a household is choosing between the two on logistics rather than academics, this is the line that decides it.
For the ends of the day the driveline does not cover, the campus page states that Legacy Kids Care, an on-site before and after-school program, is available; the operator puts the program detail on a network Legacy Kids Care page rather than on the campus page. Put it on the call list alongside the uniform guide so you learn how it runs for your child’s grade before you commit to the driveline twice a day.
6.Athletics and PE: What Is Confirmed and What Is Not
What we can confirm for this campus is the PE program: Momentum Fitness, 45 minutes of age-appropriate exercise, four days a week. At network level, Legacy states that it offers both competitive team sports — teams that represent the school against other similarly sized schools — and campus-level club sports.
What we will not print is a sport list. A roster of specific teams for the Queen Creek campus surfaced in general search results attributed to a campus athletics page, but that page returns a 404 on the live site today, and the operator’s own site notes that it recently changed and that some links may no longer work. A sport your child would try out for is exactly the wrong fact to take from a cached page. Call the front office and ask which teams are fielded this year, in which grades, and what the participation fee is.
7.The Rest of the Legacy Network, and the East Valley Campuses Families Cross-Shop
Legacy Traditional Schools describes itself as leading the way since 2007 and states a footprint of 28-plus campuses, naming Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas. Queen Creek is one campus inside that system, which is why so much of what a family reads about "Legacy" — the gifted track, the performing-arts program, the fitness block, the Friday spirit shirt — is network-wide rather than local.
For a household weighing a longer drive against a seat, the East Valley set is the one that matters. Legacy’s school finder lists these campuses within East Valley reach of Queen Creek:

- Mesa and East Mesa
- San Tan
Statewide the operator also lists Avondale, Casa Grande, Deer Valley, East Tucson, Glendale, Goodyear, Laveen, Maricopa, North Phoenix, Northwest Tucson, Peoria, Phoenix, Surprise, West Surprise and a Legacy Online Academy. Those are separate campuses, and the operator’s school finder lists them by name only — the A grade, the enrollment count and the bell times on this page belong to Queen Creek and describe none of them.
8.What Legacy Does Not Publish, and the Six Questions That Close the Gaps
Four things a careful parent would want are not on any Legacy page we could open on September 22, 2026, and we are not going to guess at them. The campus’s charter authorizer of record is not stated on its own pages, and the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools records that would settle it would not load for us — three attempts returned a block or an error. The year this campus opened is not published by the operator, by the federal directory, or by the Arizona Department of Education page for the school. The current sport list is unverifiable, as above. And there is no published enrollment cap or waitlist length for any grade.
- Does my child’s specific grade have an open seat right now, or is there a waitlist, and how long is it?
- Who is the school’s charter authorizer of record, and can you send me the charter-holder record?
- What year did this campus open, and which grades have been added since?
- Which competitive team sports and club sports are being fielded this year, in which grades, and at what cost?
- Can you send the dress-code guide, with the approved garments, colors and where families buy them?
- What are Legacy Kids Care’s hours and rates, and how do families sign up?
One boundary note, because it trips people up in both directions: Legacy offers its seats based on availability rather than by address, so where you live is not what gets you one here — but the district school your address would otherwise use still matters as a fallback and as a resale fact.
