Charter Schools in Queen Creek, AZ: Every Campus, Its Real Address, and Its 2024-25 State Letter Grade

1.Every Charter Campus In and Around Queen Creek

Seven charter operators run thirteen campuses inside or immediately next to Queen Creek — a dense charter market for a town this size. The table below is the whole set, built from the Arizona State Board of Education’s FY2025 A-F Combined Public File, which reports the 2024-25 school year, and from each school’s own published address, the one exception being Cambridge Academy East, which publishes no site we could verify. American Leadership Academy’s five local campuses account for more than a third of the list on their own.

2.Which of These Schools Is Actually in Queen Creek

A school branded Queen Creek is not necessarily in Queen Creek, and a school named for a neighbouring town is not necessarily outside it. Check the address on the school’s own site before you plan a morning route, and before a school name starts steering the neighborhood you end up buying in.

The Legacy Traditional row is the one that bites. An aggregator listing prints 22120 E Queen Creek Rd for Legacy Traditional School – Queen Creek. That address belongs to Benjamin Franklin’s Crismon Campus, a different school run by a different operator. Legacy’s own site gives 41800 N Barnes Pkwy, Queen Creek, AZ 85140. If a map app sends you to a Benjamin Franklin car line on the first day of school, this is why.

3.How Charter Enrollment Works, and How It Differs From District Enrollment

Arizona charter admission runs on A.R.S. § 15-184, and the statute is short enough to summarize honestly: a charter school must enroll every pupil who submits a timely application, unless it gets more applications than it has room for. Only then must it use what the statute calls an equitable selection process, such as a lottery. Sibling, founder and board-member preferences are permitted inside limits the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools publishes in its preferential-enrollment guidance.

1. Apply to each campus you are considering. A.R.S. § 15-184 works school by school: the duty to enroll attaches to the school that receives a timely application.
2. If the grade you want still has seats, a timely application is an enrollment — not an entry in a draw.
3. If the grade is full, the lottery runs. American Leadership Academy describes placing students who are not selected onto a numbered waitlist.
4. After that lottery, ALA adds further names to the waitlist first-come, first-served. Applying late in a full year buys you queue position, not odds.
5. Ask which preferences the campus applies. Siblings, founders and board members’ children are the categories the state guidance addresses.

The district side works the other way round. Queen Creek Unified School District assigns a home school by attendance boundary and runs a separate open enrollment application for families who want a different campus inside the district. That makes the address itself a factor, which is why it is worth learning how to verify the district boundary for a specific address before you sign anything. On the charter side the address is only a commuting question.

4.What the A Grades Actually Measure

Every letter grade on this page comes from one file: the Arizona State Board of Education’s FY2025 A-F Combined Public File, reporting the 2024-25 school year. That is the only version of a school’s grade that arrives with a school year attached to it, which is the reason to go to the file rather than to a ratings site that shows a score with no date.

What the letter actually counts is described only at second hand in our sources: the Queen Creek Tribune’s coverage of the 2024-25 release lists state assessment results, student growth, learning-environment measures such as attendance, and, for high schools, graduation rate and readiness for what comes next. We did not verify the weighting against a primary State Board document, so treat that as the shape of the system rather than a formula, and do not read a narrow gap between two schools as meaningful.

Twelve campuses under an A, but only ten A grades

Because the state grades ALA Queen Creek as one K-12 entity and ALA Ironwood as another, the thirteen campuses in the table resolve to eleven graded entries. If you are comparing a 7-12 ALA campus against Benjamin Franklin High School, you are comparing a combined K-12 result against a single-entity result. Ask a campus for its CTDS number and look that number up rather than accepting the grade printed on a brochure.

Cambridge Academy East’s B is the only non-A in the local charter set for 2024-25, and one grade in one year is a thin basis for a decision either way. For scale on the district side, Queen Creek Unified’s 2024-25 result across all fifteen of its rated schools — nine elementary campuses, two junior highs, three high schools and the virtual academy together — was ten A grades, four B grades and one C. An A is common in this market rather than remarkable, on the charter side and on the district’s own elementary campuses alike.

5.Where Each Charter Ends, and What Comes Next

Grade span decides whether you run one school search or two. Five of the seven operators here top out at grade 8 in the Queen Creek area, which means a second school search before grade 9. Only American Leadership Academy and Benjamin Franklin run a verified path to grade 12 nearby.

The practical rule: if you pick a K-8 charter for a kindergartener, you have bought nine years of one school and then an open question. If you pick Benjamin Franklin, the jump happens at grade 7 and lands at a 7-12 campus with no middle school in between — a structure worth asking about, because it is unusual. Families who expect to end up back on the district side should read the district middle-school options and Queen Creek’s public high schools before committing to a K-8 run.

6.Busing, Uniforms and the Things the Websites Do Not Say

The common assumption is that Arizona charter schools do not provide transportation. That is not true across this list. American Leadership Academy publishes optional paid bus and shuttle service, branded The Academy, with individual and family pricing tiers. For the other six operators, transportation could not be confirmed either way from a primary source — which is not the same as confirming there is none.

• Model, where an operator publishes one: Legacy Traditional describes an “accelerated curriculum” on its own site — its own marketing language, not a state finding. Heritage Academy Gateway is the one campus here the state file labels a hybrid model.
• Not confirmed: transportation at Legacy Traditional, Benjamin Franklin, Heritage Academy Gateway, Cambridge Academy East, Leading Edge Academy or Eduprize.

7.Questions to Ask on a Charter School Tour

Every question below maps to something that genuinely differs between the campuses on this page, and to something the published sources could not settle. Take the list on the tour; the front office can answer all of it in ten minutes.

1. Is this grade oversubscribed for the year I want, or do you have seats right now? That single answer decides whether A.R.S. § 15-184 puts you straight in or into a lottery.

6. Do you run buses, and what does a family pay? Only ALA’s optional paid service is confirmed in this market.
7. Are uniforms required, what do they cost, and who sells them? No campus in this set publishes verifiable uniform details.
8. What is the street address and the drop-off entrance? The brand name on the sign is not always the town on the envelope.
9. Describe the instructional model in one sentence. Core Knowledge, classical, or the hybrid model Heritage Academy Gateway is filed under in the state data.
10. What is the application deadline for the year I want, and is it the same date as the lottery? Per-campus windows were not published anywhere we could verify.
