Queen Creek High Schools: District and Charter Options, Graded

1.The High School Options for a Queen Creek Address

Nine comprehensive campuses, three school districts, two charter operators. The column most comparison pages leave out is the city — the one on each school’s own mailing address, not a judgment about which addresses it serves. Alternative and online high school programs are not in the table: J.O. Combs also runs Combs Center for Success (an A for 2024-25, San Tan Valley address) and Queen Creek Unified runs the K-12 Queen Creek Virtual Academy (a C).

We put Queen Creek High and Crismon High side by side if the shortlist is down to those two. At the address stage, verifying a school boundary before you write an offer comes first.

2.The Three Queen Creek Unified High Schools

Queen Creek Unified has 15 rated schools in the FY2025 file and holds an A as a district for 2024-25. Its three high schools share 32 Career and Technical Education programs district-wide, the count the district published as of September 2026 — a wide slate for a district this size. Queen Creek High School — A, grades 9–12

The district’s comprehensive campus at 22149 E Ocotillo Rd reported more than 2,000 students in grades 9-12 as of September 2026 — the only published enrollment figure among these nine schools. An A for 2024-25, athletics at qchsbulldogs.com.

Crismon High School — B, grades 7–12

Queen Creek Unified’s newest high school, at 21942 E Riggs Rd, was established in 2022 and serves grades 7 through 12 — the span its own site, the district’s High School Options page and the state’s Arizona School Report Cards record all give as of September 2026. The letter grade is settled too: its B is the district’s fourth B for 2024-25, the one local reporting counted but did not name. Athletics at chsrattlers.com.

Eastmark High School — A, grades 7–12, with a Mesa address

A Queen Creek Unified school sitting inside the Eastmark master-planned community at 9560 E Ray Rd, with an address that reads Mesa, AZ 85212. Established in 2019, it serves grades 7 through 12 per the district’s High School Options page, the school’s own fast-facts block and the state record — its homepage welcome paragraph still says ninth through twelfth, which the rest of the district’s own pages contradict. 3.Combs, Higley and Williams Field: Close By, Different Districts

Combs High School, at 2505 E Germann Rd, carries a San Tan Valley address despite how often it appears in Queen Creek marketing. It earned an A for 2024-25. Its district, J.O. Combs Unified, holds a B for the same year and, on its own site as of September 2026, teaches "nearly 4,000 students annually" district-wide — the district total, not Combs High’s enrollment.

Higley Unified holds an A as a district for 2024-25, and some of its campuses do carry Queen Creek mailing addresses — Cortina Elementary at 19680 S 188th St and Sossaman Middle at 18655 E Jacaranda Blvd, both A-rated for the same year. Its high schools are another matter: Higley High (4068 E Pecos Rd, an address we could only source secondhand — confirm it with the district) and Williams Field High (2076 S Higley Rd) both sit at Gilbert addresses, and both were graded A for 2024-25. District boundaries and town limits are not the same line. A Queen Creek Unified high school sits in Mesa; two Higley Unified campuses carry Queen Creek addresses while both of that district’s high schools sit in Gilbert. 4.The Charter High Schools: ALA and Benjamin Franklin

Three charter campuses with Queen Creek mailing addresses serve high school grades, and all three run 7–12 rather than 9–12 — the same span Queen Creek Unified lists for Crismon High and Eastmark High. All three hold an A for 2024-25, but two of those grades need a footnote.

• American Leadership Academy, Queen Creek (7–12) — 23908 S Hawes Rd. The A for 2024-25 is recorded for the combined ALA Queen Creek K–12 entity (CTDS 90769), not the 7-12 campus alone.
• American Leadership Academy, Ironwood (7–12) — 850 W Combs Rd, Queen Creek 85140. Same arrangement: the 2024-25 A belongs to the combined ALA Ironwood K–12 entity (CTDS 92885). ALA lists the Ironwood PreK-6 campus at 650 W Combs Rd, so confirm the building with the school.
• Benjamin Franklin High School (7–12) — 18864 E Germann Rd. Graded as its own entity, and an A for 2024-25.

Both ALA complexes are split sites: the younger grades and the 7-12 grades sit in separate buildings at different street addresses, while the state still grades each complex as one K-12 entity. Confirm the campus address with the school before you plan a drop-off run. The Ironwood address also sits in the 85140 ZIP, where the Postal Service’s own preferred city name is San Tan Valley and Queen Creek is an accepted alternate; our guide to the Queen Creek ZIP codes has the rest of that. A mailing city is a postal convention, not a school district.

Benjamin Franklin runs a classical, traditional-education model — its own site puts it as "Traditional Education is the foundation of our curriculum." It is also built differently: the charter has no free-standing middle school, so its K-6 Crismon and Power campuses feed straight into this 7-12 school. On logistics: American Leadership Academy offers an optional paid bus service. No other charter’s transportation could be verified for this page, so ask each school directly rather than assuming a route exists. 5.What an Arizona A–F Letter Grade Actually Measures

An Arizona A–F grade is not a parent-satisfaction score. As the state accountability system was described in local reporting on the 2024-25 release, it rests on four inputs:

• Academic performance, including state assessment scores.
• Student growth year over year.
• Learning-environment measures: school safety, attendance, and performance across the student groups the state tracks.
• For high schools, graduation rates and readiness for post-secondary success.

Two limits. A K-12 charter graded as one entity gets a single letter covering its elementary grades too, so an ALA A is not a high-school-only measurement. And private schools sit outside A–F entirely — Canyon State Academy on Rittenhouse Road shows up in local searches, but it is a private all-boys residential and therapeutic school rather than a charter or district campus, so no Arizona grade applies and it is not a general-population option.

6.How Open Enrollment and Charter Admission Actually Work

1. Confirm your home-boundary school first — the district’s open enrollment page sends you to its site locator before anything else.
2. Submit the open enrollment application, a PDF linked from that same page and dated to the school year it covers.
3. Expect approval to hinge on capacity at the school you asked for. An application is a request, not a seat.
4. Plan your own transport: the district provides no transportation for students open-enrolled outside their home boundary.

The current form and the year it applies to live on QCUSD’s open enrollment page, which is also where the district links its boundary lookup — the reason those two steps come in that order.

Charter admission is a different system

Charter high schools have no attendance boundaries. Under A.R.S. § 15-184, an Arizona charter must enroll every timely applicant unless applications exceed capacity, in which case it must use "an equitable selection process such as a lottery," with sibling preference allowed. If there is room, timely applicants get in. If there is not, the statute requires an equitable process and names a lottery as an example rather than mandating one, so ask each school which process it uses. What the law does not allow is an academic ranking.

7.How to Confirm Your Assigned High School Before You Buy

Nobody on the internet — this page included — can tell you which high school a specific address is assigned to. Boundaries are the district’s to publish and to redraw. This sequence produces an answer you can rely on.

1. Get the exact address, lot or unit number included. A subdivision name is not an address, and a new phase is not automatically boundaried like the older one across the street.
2. Run it through QCUSD’s School Site Locator. It returns the home-boundary schools the district has on file for that address.
3. If the tool does not recognize it, the address may sit with another district. Call Higley Unified at 480-279-7000 or J.O. Combs Unified at 480-987-5300.
4. Ask for the answer in writing, and ask whether a boundary change is under consideration for the year your student would start.
5. Re-run the check for the year the student actually enrolls, not the year you are touring.
6. If a charter is on the list, apply separately — charter admission does not follow your home boundary at all.

8.What This Page Does Not Claim

Showing the receipts means showing the gaps. These are claims a competing page might state confidently and this one will not, because no source confirmed them in September 2026.

• Enrollment for most campuses. Two figures held up: more than 2,000 students at Queen Creek High, and "nearly 4,000 students annually" district-wide at J.O. Combs Unified. No count was published for the other eight campuses — ask each front office.
• Athletic conference and division. No AIA division appears here for any campus. Get that from the Arizona Interscholastic Association’s own listings, because schools move divisions.
• Which Higley high school serves a specific Queen Creek-address Higley Unified student. The district publishes a feeder chart (Cortina Elementary to Sossaman Middle to Higley High) and a zone map, but no address-level lookup tool, so the address-level question goes back to the district.
• Heritage Academy Gateway’s high school grades. Its site is branded as a K-12 charter but its own school-information section reads K-8, so it is not listed above. Confirm the span with the school.
• Any "best high school" verdict. The only ratings here are the state’s dated letter grades, and eight of the nine campuses share the same one.
