1.Where the Nearest Hospital and Emergency Room Actually Are

Banner Ironwood Medical Center is at 37000 N. Gantzel Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85140, and its main line is (480) 394-4000. It is open 24 hours, it has an emergency department, and Arizona designates it a Level IV trauma center — effective October 11, 2024 and expiring October 11, 2027 on the state list dated December 5, 2025. It is the only hospital with a Queen Creek address, and the only hospital the Town of Queen Creek names as serving the town on its own Fire & Medical page; every other hospital on that page is listed separately, as an “other local hospital” in Chandler, Mesa or Gilbert, as the page read on September 20, 2026.

That Gantzel Road address is also why the hospital turns up under two different city names. Banner Health and the Town both call it Queen Creek; Arizona’s own trauma-center registry lists the identical street address under San Tan Valley, AZ 85140. It is one building, not two hospitals — the municipal labels disagree because of the way the 85140 ZIP straddles two places. This page follows the Town and the operator and calls it Queen Creek; the Town does not publish whether any given 85140 address falls inside the incorporated boundary, so for your own address, run it through the Town’s “Do I Live in QC” map rather than reading a ZIP code as an answer.

The Town’s page lists three more hospitals that we did not verify further in this pass. Addresses and phone numbers are the Town’s own, as published on September 20, 2026; we did not confirm their emergency services, their trauma designations or their drive times, and none of them appears in the trauma table further down this page.

2.Banner Ironwood Medical Center: Beds, the ER and the 2027 Expansion

Banner Health’s own location page states the bed count in one sentence: “Our first patient tower has 47 beds and can accommodate up to 86 beds when fully equipped. In total, more than 500 beds and supporting health services could be built on our site.” Read that as a master-plan capacity statement rather than a current staffed-bed count. The page as it read on September 20, 2026 publishes no separate “currently staffed” figure, and nothing else we checked did either.

The emergency department carries one credential most people would not know to ask about. It is certified by the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics under that group’s voluntary Pediatric-Prepared Emergency Care program, which recognizes hospitals equipped to stabilize and manage pediatric medical emergencies. That is a named, dated certification from the operator’s own emergency page, not a marketing line.

The expansion that breaks ground now and opens in 2027

Banner broke ground on August 28, 2026 on a two-story addition of more than 32,000 square feet to the existing emergency department: a new interventional radiology suite with pre- and post-operative space, plus an expanded ER lobby. Archsol is the architect and Mortenson the contractor, and the release slates completion for December 2027. The release is also the closest thing to an opening date we can source. It quotes the hospital’s chief executive saying Banner is “proud to grow alongside” the town “since we first opened our doors here over a decade ago.” That places the opening before roughly 2016, and no exact month or year was independently confirmed in this pass — so this page does not print one.

3.Urgent Care in Queen Creek: Addresses, Hours and the One That Went Dark

Three walk-in urgent cares carry a Queen Creek 85142 address. Alliance and Gateway publish current hours on their own websites, which is the only place worth trusting for something that changes this often, and both close at 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. The third, Dignity Health Urgent Care at 7205 S. Power Road, is the awkward one: its own location page returns a 404 after the CommonSpirit rebrand, and the only hours attributable to the operator’s parent company come from a CommonSpirit physician bio page, which describes that location as “Open 365 days a year from 7 AM to 10 PM.” So for a 9 p.m. decision: if that bio-page listing holds, Dignity on Power Road is the one Queen Creek walk-in still open; if it does not, the emergency department at Banner Ironwood is the only Queen Creek address publishing round-the-clock hours. Either way, call (480) 728-6000 before you drive to Power Road.

That Dignity row needs its footnote, and here it is. Dignity Health now operates under its parent, CommonSpirit Health, and the Queen Creek urgent care page the Town links to returns a 404. The address and the (480) 728-6000 phone number stand on their own, because both come independently from the Town’s own government page. The hours are weaker: they come from a physician bio page on CommonSpirit’s site — “Practicing with a fine health care team at Dignity Queen Creek Urgent Care Open 365 days a year from 7 AM to 10 PM” — rather than from a location or hours page. That is the operator’s parent company describing the location in its own words, which is why this page prints it, and it is a bio page rather than a schedule, which is why this page prints it with the source attached and tells you to call.

The nearby walk-ins, including two the Town’s list leaves out

The Town’s page also points at walk-in clinics beyond those three 85142 addresses. Its nearby list, as it read on September 20, 2026, is two Banner Urgent Care locations in San Tan Valley, MY DR NOW at a Queen Creek 85143 address, a second Gateway Urgent Care in Gilbert, and NextCare in Apache Junction. Two NextCare locations that are not on that list are closer to Town Hall than several that are — 5.6 and 5.9 miles, both about ten minutes in the same September 20, 2026 routing snapshot.

4.Which One for What: A Decision Table Built Only on Verified Facts

This table maps a situation to what each facility’s own operator, or the State of Arizona, says that facility is set up to do. It is a capability map, not triage: in an emergency the dispatcher and the paramedics decide where someone goes, and nothing here changes that.

5.Freestanding ER vs. Urgent Care: What the Billing Difference Actually Is

Banner Ironwood holds Level IV; the two Level I centers nearest Queen Creek are in Chandler and Mesa.

Two rows deserve a note. Mercy Gilbert runs a staffed 24-hour emergency room — its operator says so on its own location page — and still holds no state trauma designation at all; a functioning ER and a trauma designation are two different things, and the second one is what the state audits. HonorHealth Four Peaks carries an asterisk on its expiration date, meaning a renewal application is pending; under the state rule cited on that list, the designation continues until the health department makes a final determination.

7.Maternity and Children’s Care: Can You Deliver Near Queen Creek?

Yes — at the hospital with the Queen Creek address, by its operator’s own published page. Banner Ironwood’s maternity page, as it read on September 20, 2026, says “At Banner Ironwood Medical Center, you’ll find complete maternity care” and lists pregnancy care, labor and delivery care, mother and baby care, a Level II special care nursery, lactation consultants, nurse-midwife care for pregnancy, labor and delivery, and dedicated cesarean section suites. That is the hospital at 37000 N. Gantzel Road describing its own services — a service list, not a state designation and not a capacity figure.

The nearest alternative that publishes the same level of detail is HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center (formerly Mountain Vista), 1301 S. Crismon Road in Mesa. Its labor and delivery page, checked the same day, lists seven labor, delivery and recovery rooms and 15 postpartum rooms, plus two cesarean delivery suites and two private triage rooms, and gives (480) 358-6667 for the department. This page publishes no drive time to it, because that route was not measured in the September 20, 2026 routing pass.

For children, the name most families search is the one that misleads. Phoenix Children’s Specialty Care – East Valley, at 3370 S. Mercy Road in Gilbert, 9.0 miles from Town Hall, is an outpatient specialty clinic with no emergency department. Read it as a clinic, not as pediatric emergency care nearby. Phoenix Children’s emergency and trauma-designated campuses are on the other side of the Valley, in Phoenix, Avondale and Glendale, and this page publishes no drive times to any of them because none was measured in the September 20, 2026 routing pass.

What a Queen Creek address does carry for children is one emergency credential and one specialist office. Banner Ironwood’s emergency department holds the AzAAP Pediatric-Prepared Emergency Care certification described above, and Banner Children’s Specialists Clinic is listed at 37100 N. Gantzel Road, Suite 214, on (480) 733-7350. That clinic is a specialist office, not an emergency door.

The nearest campus that combines a Level I trauma designation with a children’s hospital brand is Banner Desert Medical Center and Banner Children’s at Desert, 1400 S. Dobson Road in Mesa — 23.9 miles, about 34 minutes in the September 20, 2026 routing snapshot. 8.Clinics, Behavioral Health and VA Care Around Queen Creek

Banner Health Center – Queen Creek, at 21772 S. Ellsworth Loop Road on (480) 512-3700, is the Queen Creek clinic people most often mistake for an urgent care. It is not one. Its published service lines are behavioral health and mental health, family medicine, internal medicine and sports medicine, and Banner’s own page for the location says outright that many same-day needs can be handled at an urgent care instead.

Its hours are the other trap. The page showed a single narrow window on the day it was checked, and Banner states that hours vary by day and by provider, so this page does not publish a daily schedule for it. Book through Banner rather than assuming a walk-in window exists. The Town’s own listing shows a 85140 ZIP for that same Ellsworth Loop address while Banner shows 85142 — another artifact of the ZIP boundary running through town rather than a second location.

All three are listed at one address, 37100 N. Gantzel Road, with different suite numbers; the hospital’s own address is 37000 N. Gantzel Road. Our sources give those addresses and nothing about how the buildings sit relative to one another, so this page does not describe the walk between them.

Veterans: the two nearest VA clinics

The nearest VA facility is the Mesa VA Clinic, 4135 S. Power Road, Suite 103, Mesa 85212, on (480) 397-2800 — 8.7 miles and about 17 minutes from Town Hall. VA’s page for it describes outpatient primary care and mental health care, with no emergency department. The Staff Sergeant Alexander W. Conrad VA Health Care Clinic, 3285 S. Val Vista Drive in Gilbert, is a close second at 9.6 miles and about 18 minutes; our source for it gives the address, the distance and the VA Health Connect line, (877) 252-4866, and nothing about its service lines, so this page lists none.

Neither clinic is listed with an emergency department in the sources we used. We did not source a VA policy page on emergency care in this pass, so rather than paraphrase a coverage rule we cannot cite, confirm with VA directly how an emergency visit to a non-VA hospital would be handled on your enrollment.

9.What Changed, What Is Stale, and How to Check Before You Need It

Health directories rot quietly, and Queen Creek’s are no exception. Four specific things are out of date in sources people trust, including the Town’s own government page — which is otherwise the single best source for which facilities serve the town.

• Mountain Vista Medical Center is now HonorHealth Four Peaks Medical Center, same address at 1301 S. Crismon Road in Mesa, confirmed on HonorHealth’s own announcement. The Town’s page still prints the old name.
• Gateway Urgent Care’s phone number differs between sources. The Town lists (480) 650-8133 for the Queen Creek location; Gateway’s own current site lists (480) 499-0201, which is also the number the Town shows for Gateway’s Gilbert location. Use the operator’s own number, (480) 499-0201; we do not know why the two disagree.
• Dignity Health now operates under CommonSpirit Health, and the Queen Creek urgent care page the Town links to returns a 404. The 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., 365-day hours on this page come from a CommonSpirit physician bio page, not from a location page — call (480) 728-6000 first.
• Chandler Regional Medical Center has two addresses in circulation — the legacy 475 S. Dobson Road mailing alias and the current 1955 W. Frye Rd. Both land on the same campus at the northwest corner of Dobson and Frye, about 0.2 miles apart, with essentially identical driving distance from Queen Creek. It is one hospital.

Check these four things, in this order

1. The Town of Queen Creek Fire & Medical hospitals and urgent care page for which facilities the Town says serve the town, and for the non-emergency number, (480) 644-2400.
2. The operator’s own location page for hours and phone, because that is the only source that updates when a clinic changes them.
3. The Arizona Department of Health Services trauma-center list for designations and their expiry dates — it is dated, which almost no hospital marketing page is.
4. Your health plan’s own directory for which of these are in network. Nothing on this page verifies that, and the answer changes by plan and by year.

The ZIP and county mess is worth one extra minute while you are at it — not because a ZIP code settles anything, but because it settles nothing. A ZIP code never proves which county, town boundary, fire district, school district or tax rate an address falls under; it governs what a mailing label says, which is exactly why one hospital can be filed under two city names. Run the address through the Town’s “Do I Live in QC” map and the county assessor’s parcel search, and read which county Queen Creek is actually in first.
